Another first time bird for me. Was able to get hold of a Pied and 4 Normals but they mayb carrying the gene.
Turns out only 1 Hen so had them separate for a while paired them up and they built a nest, got disturbed from Parsons
and built a new nest and noticed the Hen had a bent tail so my fingers are crossed for some luck with these.
Breeding Show Zebra Finches, Blue Gouldians, Pied Orange Breast.

Keep your eye on the Black Throats,they can cause some problems.

Agree, those mongrels threw my first lesser red browed young out of the nest when i had them housed with them many years ago. Craig

Pied red brows are an extremely hard mutation to get established,same goes for the yellow mutation. Good luck Mark. Craig

Can distinctly remember, many years ago, a Blackthroat holding an adult Orange-Breast by the elbow of the wing and shaking it up and down

Nice birds(?) . .

But colony breed them . . on their own

2 young fledged last week, showing no Pied. But will wait for them to colour up it may come out it may not. So will find out soon enough I guess on what the Mother is.

At least you now have some splits to be working with. And maybe the next nest will be all pieds, after all that is the way things go sometimes.
