There's an old piece of wisdom which says that birds in the wild only use hollow logs because there are no boxes available
And the footage showed that Swifts in the wild, had indeed successfully used boxes provided
While I am in no way questioning the good intentions of those involved in the project . . and wish it every success; there would be more 'bang for the buck' in positioning a couple of hundred boxes, rather than a couple of dozen chain-saw created hollows
Perhaps someone who is more computer savvy could provide a link to that segment
After viewing ABC "Catalyst" programme just now, it looks as though they did actually position 'a couple of hundred nest boxes'
