Yellow siskin breeding
Posted: 28 Nov 2016, 18:02
Hi all,
Not sure if it's the yellow siskin breeding season, but my hen is fiercely guarding her nest in the aviary - she fends off any other canaries males or females, and even goldfinches and greenfinches if they come near! (though she doesn't really care about the other species i have around her nest). However, it doesn't seem like the male is wanting to breed - is there anything i can do to bring him to breeding condition? The hen seems to be begging him for feed when he comes near but he refuses to. I currently feed them a finch/canary mix, sprouted seed mix (started today), homemade egg and biscuit (started to - thanks to the members of this forum!), fresh veggies, and mealworms. I also add vitamins in their water whenever i can.
Cheers,
Fraudster
