Over eating

I have read that BFPF can become overweight. I have just purchased a young second pair for a separate aviary and they are consuming seed most of the day. I have stopped other food as that makes them eat even more.

The first pair eat what I would consider a normal amount and the second pair consume maybe twice as much.

Is this likely to be a problem? Should I remove all food including seed now & then?

Both pairs are equally very active.

It depends on what size aviary you have for each pr, a decent sized aviary will give a chance to burn fat off as blue face are very active as you said.
Young birds will consume more than older birds as well. Imo it is a bit of a myth them getting too fat if they have got the space so never deprive of any food especially regular finch mix but cut back on high protein seeds like sunflower or niger and mealworms only if they are not breeding. But in saying that BF are sexual maniacs and will breed all year round if you let them. :) Craig
