Aggressive male diamond firetail

Hi all,

Just wondering if it's normal for male diamond firetails to be aggressive to females when they leave the nest i.e. chase the females until they return to the nest?
I'm not 100% sure if they are breeding birds and if they have eggs in nest yet (I dont dare interfere with bird nests anymore), so is this aggressiveness a sign that there are eggs inside? I've also notice that the female spends a majority of time in the nest etc. (By recording videos of them) And only comes out when I go feed them, etc.

Thanks heaps!

The male might be pestering the female to mate with him and she has no choice but to return to the nest, but check the nest. If there are eggs inside, separate the two. Actually, separate them as they could be plucking out each other's feathers and fighting to the death in a few weeks.

I'm sure the issue has been resolved in the year since this post was made.
