I used to have a huge Cape Lilac tree over the lot. But it has been drastically cut back since it did a big self prune in last winters storms. It missed the avairies fortunately, but blocked off entry to them. The shade sail over the avairies has been there that long I will have to get hubby to replace the tethering ropes soon or they will completely chafe through and really "sail away" I find the Sail cloth best about 6" above the avairies, it cools, and makes the gap too small for hawks and most cats, as it flaps about a bit.
The birds insisted on sitting on the highest points in the avairy when little sis pointed her phone at them. Usually they are on natural branch perches lower down and where the breezes pass. Nests of many kinds are scattered round the avairies at different heights. The hanging baskets and bait containers are proving most popular with the Zebs.

Just a bump to see how everyone is doing with their reds? Mine have not been very productive this last year. But they very definately get redder with age. The original cock I bought back in 2017 that got me hooked is really red now.
