could you please give me some clues what will/might be happen with the youngs? what colour will they be?

red front cock + charcoal hen
red front hen + charcoal cock?

is it possible to make full red zebra from these pairs?

Is charcoal considered or having black breast and black face gene?

I am mixing my reds with fawn charcols. No real progress yet, but believe others have had sucess doing this. Making full reds is exactly what is intended.

Better to use black fronted or black face.

Charcoal is ok but colour predictability is off.

I have mixes as per below

Any breeding of reds to charcoals for me has resulted in Charcoals that just have oversized cheeks and really solid flanks

I did have one exception of a charcoal that has a red bar across his chest.

Fawn charcoals seem show the red a lot more.

Ive started concentrating more on Isabel reds as any red in the feathers really shows up and isnt hidden by the darker feathers.

Pic is of an isabel red at day one out of the nest

There is one question always wondering in my mind that does charcoal have both black face and black chest gene or just black chest or black face?

Because to my understanding is the red/orange gene replacing all/partly the black colour and change it into orange colour. Thats the reason why people breed red front with black front and black face is so the red gene replace those black marks with orange. AS the result is a full orange bird. We have the full black bird @Charcoal available but when mixing with the red front it seem doesn't really work as it supposed to be

So far I am using only fawn ground birds. Absolutely no gray based birds. I am getting very consistent results with the hens and less so with the cocks, but there was not a single red in the auction that I have not bred an equal bird too. So I am happy with what I am doing. (Bought a pair for outcrossing) I have been doing some fairly close linebreeding and was at the decision time re what to do next.

out of the nest today, 4 youngs, one of them seem like a charcoal male. does this mean the mom is split to charcoal?
