I do it the same as Mike Fidler just using standard finch mix. I sprout about 3kg at a time and throw it in the freezer. It is so much easier than the old way rinsing with bleach.

Yeh I have been using spouted seed for a while. The Goulds really like it even with a heavy planted Aviary.
Found I had beter results with Sprouted Seed.
I've been using just a Premium Finch Mix bought from the local shop.
Have just bought online some white & black seed sprout mixes from "birds R us".
I'll see how they go. Haven't used Virkon S yet. Will look into that though.

Let us know how the mixes from Birds R us go. il take a picture 2moro of the seed i feed my goulds, im not 100% on what they all are im sure someone on here will know if they are okay to sprout. its good to know that others on here are using Mike's Method and that it seems to work well.

Any seeds that are edible can be sprouted I have Snow Pea ans Sunflower sprouts both in jars and in pots . Both my finches and parrots tuck into it .
The jarred ones are just a jam jar with a piece of flywire secured with a rubber band , rinse the sprouts any time im in the kitchen and in a few days pick of the seed and feed the sprout.
The ones in pots are grown in seed raising mix till a few inches tall then cut off near the base of the plant and feed , kinda the same as they grow wheat grass.

i buy it a kilo at a time for around $100 of virkon-s.I sprout it exactly the same as mike.i do 5kgs at a time and use two plastic buckets one in the other with holes drilled in the inner bucket. You can also use virkon-s in their water to keep it clean.
You can also use avicleans to sprout. That is what i used to use.

Some nice ideas there.
Is it better to store in the fridge of freezer.
How long for both?

Five kilos lasts me approx 2 weeks.I read somewhere it can last a year in the freezer. If you follow what it says on birdsrus it will go fine.dont soak any longer as you will have a block off ice.It thaws out very fast out of the freezer.i give it to mine straight out of the freezer.

Might start a sock pile this summer to get through next winter.
