hi,probably a silly question but how do all you finch keepers deal with husks on top of the seed ? do you have to blow them off every couple of days or is there an easier solution ? I don't have a lot of finches but enough where Im wondering if theres a smarter way to do it.
thanks

You will have to blow it off. Shake your tray from side to side then give it a blow, all the husks will sit at the top.

The only birds I know of that dont leave husks are plastic ones. Blowing husks off is just one of those little jobs that come with the hobby. Enjoy your birds and some of the great gadjet ideas on this forum.

My bird feeder has a drawer at the bottom so all the husks slide into it at some point.

Quail and doves do not husk their seed and are notorious flickers because of their foraging habits. Kakarikis empty a hopper bloody fast!
You still need to blow husks off the tray on a hopper. The birds dehusk the seed and the husks drop straight onto the feed tray in many instances.
