Hello from USA

Hi gang,

Most importantly my son recently turned 6 months old, I love him dearly and I hope I can be a good enough dad to him.

I am lucky enough to have 24 Gouldian finches at present with more on the way. My birds come from 4 different breeders and I have been breeding Gouldians for over 3 years and recently increased my flock significantly. I will post pictures in the near future as soon as they all settle in. Some are laying eggs, some are sitting on eggs, some are raising babies, and some are downright troublemakers. I am interested in learning and hearing about new ideas, concepts, and technologies used in the hobby. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Cheers!

Hi Xripcurrent, WELCOME to the AFF....your Gouldian flock sounds fairly typical of the breed....enjoy the forum, your baby and your birds.

P.S. Where are you situated in the U.S ?... the climate may be a significant factor to any future advice given.

Thank you Nat&Glenn and Starman, I am from California. I am totally biased I love Australians. Generally speaking by far the most friendly, gracious, and accepting out of all the people that I have met from all over the world. :)

My wife and I keep the Gouldians indoors in multi-unit breeding cages next to a sliding glass door for direct sunlight. We control the temperature and use humidifiers to keep eggs from drying out. Sometimes I will sneak in a drop of Tea Tree Essential Oil or Eucalyptus Essential Oil in the humidifier to simulate some of the smells they would encounter in the native wild.

Welcome to the forum and Parenthood. Your cage set up will allow for complete control of pairing.
