Hi everyone,

I am new to the forums but I wanted to ask for some experiential feedback on incubators for Gouldian Finches. I saw this model online http://www.efinch.com/incubator.htm and I was curious if anyone here was familiar with it? If not perhaps there is a better model that you would generally recommend?

Of the Australian native finches, the Gouldian is arguably one of the easiest to breed. They are (typically) attentive parents and are not known for
casual desertion. I have not heard of any breeders using incubators in their rearing or of anybody needing to use fostering techniques (in this country)....this is not to say that it is never done but the only people I know of using incubators are the breeders of the rarer and expensive hookbills. The expense and difficulty of using incubators generally relegates them to use by experienced professionals.
If you aren't talking about Gouldian breeding please disregard this post....but there are many other things to spend money on in our hobby

Seriously though, incubating, and hand rearing finches from day one would not be the simplest of tasks

And I certainly wouldn't be buying shares in a finch incubator production company . . if you'll pardon the pun, I don't see it as a growth industry

As you have multiple pairs of Gouldians on the rare occassion that a first time parental couple does a bad job you will have another couple you can slip the babies under. That is all I have ever done, and that rarely.
