As a long shot, it could be a Golden Whistler in that area.

Hi everyone, thanks for your welcome and replies. I have decided it must be a yellow thorn Bill. The photos don’t do the colours of the bird justice. I know silveryeyes well as I grew up with them and the colours and body shape are not right for the other. I tried to get a photo( not sure if you can post them anyway ) but they were not there when I came out this morning.
Thanks so much for the response. We also get red browed finches and double barred finches, as well as blue wrens and willies. And of cours all the local parrot varieties.

Eastern Yellow Robin

Weebill

White Throated Gerygone/Warbler

Greenfinch

And as mentioned, Golden Whistler

I'd go the weebill (assuming small as described)

Most of the thornbills around here (chestnut rump, yellow rumped and inland) spend time on the ground fossicking where as I haven't ever seen a weebill on the ground,
