this kind of hybrid is rather easily achieved. the chicks are spice finch alike with a few white patches. a clutch of 3 chickes are surviving on the perch.

I would think they would be easy to achieve as both species have a reputation for breeding with anything available.

I had some years ago in NZ and can tell you they are infertile
