Mix of hens & cocks

If the balance isn't equal, does this create problems amongst 3 'pairs'.
ie One more cock than hens
One more hen than cocks.

4 cocks may fight over 2 hens. 4 hens will keep 2 cocks busy.

Having more hens is probably safer than fewer hens.

The disruption posed by single males diminishes as you scale up the total number of pairs. For example, two cocks and one hen is going to cause a lot more problems than 50 hens and 51 cocks.

It could depend on what specie.
Gouldians, some breeders run an extra cock bird with the hens.

Red Siskins can be run with an extra hen.

my mate always ran an extra cock with gouldians , as he saw a hen who didnt have a mate, pulling young from other breeding couples nest boxes
