I had a completely random dead chick in the food bowl yesterday; my birds hadn't incubated or nested or anything and yet here it was...

Well they've started laying again but they aren't sitting them yet. Dropped to 1 degree overnight so I'm not too hopeful that the eggs will be any good. Still early days yet. At this point I'm not sure the male is even doing his job will just have to wait and see.
Have to feel sorry for the birds given how messed up the weather is at the moment. Freezing winter weather one day next day is lovely spring weather.. It's got to mess with them.

If only we got that cold, cold weather in Brissie. It was 19 last night and 31 in the day! Last week it soared to 33 and 34, and it's funny how the woolworths ad for Strawberries says "ideal growing conditions and mild temperatures in the growing region" on their ad, yet most of the strawberry crops here are battling intense heat and crippling drought.
