Hi everyone, just saying hello. I kept finches about 10 to15 years ago in my 20's. But now have no birds. Am doing a lot of research before I decide on what I want . Thanks for reading....isabella

Welcome to the forum. And back to the interest/addiction. Researching the best avairy you can have for your situation is always a wise move.

What finches were you keeping in the past?

I can see from your posts that you are attracted to the pretty finches. Something I fully understand. However, think about having a mix. One pair of pretty finches and one pair of plain finches to an avairy make for a nice contrast, and helps to see that all types are preserved for the future. Enjoy whatever you decide on.

Maybe St Helenas.. oh and some masks
I used to keep Cordons, Ruddies and OB's...

We ladies are allowed to like the pretties. But most guys do too. Double Bars, St. Helenas and Masks are all good finches to keep in small flocks of 3/6.
And Double Bars, and St. Helenas being very quiet, can be kept in a small flock with a pair of other finches like Gouldians. Masks are on my - if only I had another avairy list. Ruddies and Orange Breasteds are also the quiet type that you can mix without risk.
