I have only 3 Black rumps DB's, because I have been flat out trying to find new, pure blood, and I have 2 nests at the moment with eggs, but I have had 2 nests recently that all proved infertile, fingers crossed
Had a Ruddy leave the nest the other day and another one yesterday that I unfortunately found the one I found yesterday dead on the floor with what appears to be a wing deformity, with the tip joint of the wing missing
Javan Munias are crowing profusely and nests are being made all over the place, but no eggs yet!

I was out birdwatching and found DBs nesting in native Finger Lime trees (Citrus australasica ), and I was wondering if DBs in captivity would nest in the brush (or the whole plant, in ground or in a pot).

My DB's only and only ever had nested in brush

It's the brush in the wire cylinder that I think my double bars are in. Have only once come across them using a box. And that was in a 3mtr cube avairy with boxs up about 2.5mtrs above ground level. 10 birds only in avairy and very bare otherwise. A friends avairy not mine.

Went out yesterday and checked the BR DB nest and I finally found out I have fertile eggs (about bloody time!!)
Not sure about the other nest, I only have 2 females and 1 male
If the other nest is fertile it may prove DB's are non - monogamous

Congratulations, hopefully they can fledge some young from that nest . My first BFPF nest was definitely a dud but they have started building a new nest so fingers crossed!!

Good luck with your BFPF's, I hope mine go back to nest soon again, seeming that they were so eager when I put them in the aviary only a couple of weeks ago, that unfortunately proved infertile but hey, they just need a practice run
One of the Javan Munias unfortunately has what I believe is a cancer under its wing, its is a big lump and when I first got it I thought it was just an old injury but over the last couple weeks it has gone down hill and the lump has gotten a bit bigger and angrier so I was quick to put it in a hospital cage
It has improved since the other day, but the future is uncertain for it unfortunately

What receptacle did they nest in?

Just this morning, one of my quails died of egg-binding and another had all the feathers on her head plucked out (I don't know how). Another one of my hens is back on the nest though.
