Magic time of the year.

To go down to your aviary or aviaries, stand outside and hear young ones being fed in the nest is one of the best feelings in breeding birds.
Next is waiting with baited breath,to see just how many were actually in there.
My Plum heads have just fledged 5 young, 3 yesterday and the other 2 today and were very vocal in the nest.
It is all happening now with other birds, what a magic time of the year.

Almost sounds like you could be a poet mate
It truly is the magical time of year, you just can't beat it!
I've got a heap of chicks and eggs coming along nicely, fingers crossed that all goes well
Thanks

Plant more habitat trees and shrubs in your patch, as a way of fighting back. We can all do this one block at a time. Then we can hear our domestic and our native birds all doing their thing successfully.

My post was in regards to our own aviary bred birds and the enjoyment of hearing young in the nest etc, nothing to do with what you have said.

Agree, please stay topic. The topic is for the excitement of hearing or fledgling young in our aviaries at this time of the year not sad and deplorable things that happen in your area Rod.
Start a new topic if you really feel you need too.

One of my most happy memories with my birds was 6 months ago, when I entered my aviary thinking there was no breeding, only to hit my head on a nest box and out came my very first Zebbie fledgling, to my absolute shock and surprise.

The title does not say that. The title says:
"Magic time of the year."
It does not mention anything else. And my post was to point out that not everything is magic at this time of year. Yes baby birds are appearing in nests, but the ones in the wild are doing it tough, so it isn't a magic time for them.

This is not a place for an a argument Rod, if you want to argue, do it via PM
It says 'Magic' because magic is happiness, please don't dampen the mood like a wet piece of cardboard
Thanks

My canaries have nests and eggs everywhere too. Mum already has young canaries hopping out of nests. Baby quail running arround, and a few Zebs. Still hoping the Double Bars are doing something productive in the bush but cant see and dont want to put them off by being too curious. Did a lot of rearranging about a month ago. And still making some fine tuning adjustments to the dynamics of avairies. Must try and get hubby to take some photos of some of my Red Zebs over the weekend. Am pleased with the progress.
