Hi, I'm interested to hear what people think of those aluminium split ring with the clips... which I'm assuming you fold over to make it flush with the other side ?
I ask because Lentra direct sell 100 for $10. Not that I'll need that many but for aluminium split, regular types are so much more expensive.
Any thoughts ...and advice?

I only use aluminum rings, only because Finch with big beaks will remove plastic ones

Yeah, but what about the aluminium ones with the little tag that sticks out?

I use a larger type of those for Neophemas, and for finches they are very good

Your right about the tags on those aluminium rings, they will break or crack eggs if you don't fold it back but in saying that the finches i've seen or bought wearing them have never been folded back. Yes they are cheap but there is nothing wrong with plastic split rings if you buy the right size and i have never heard of a finch removing a plastic split ring if it is the right size.
Some of the cheaper split plastic rings look like 20 ltr barrels stuck on their legs and damned right ugly and cruel.
Chapmans rings are a little expensive but you will get the right size for different bird species that don't look ugly including aluminium split rings for parrots.

I just googled Chapman's leggings and the aluminium split are a much more reasonable price than some of the other legring sellers. Chapman has aluminium coloured finch rings 100 for $63 so 63 cents each
.... But Lentra has sells you 10 for $10 so $1 each legring .
Hughes in the UK sells 5 rings for £2 so Australian $3.80 so about 80cents per legring .. plus the postage from UK

Anyway I don't know if we needed that arithmetic tonight..
Also Hughes doesn't supply aluminium split leg rings for Owl finches as they are too small . He does supply closed aluminium rings though ..
