G'day all
I was just wondering what ever happened to the Golden mutation Chestnut breasted Mannikans and the Purple finch
I saw these 2 for sale in a year 2000 Australian Birdkeepers Magazine issue, and in the same mag there was a whole article on the Golden chestnuts
Thanks

I have never seen a golden chestnut breasted finch unless it is a yellow rumped munia. The purple finch or house finch maybe still here but they are in NZ. Can you get a pic of the golden chestnut breasted finch. Craig

Looks like a form of dilute from what I can make out. So naturally would be recessive or sex linked recessive. Wonder if anyone developed the mutation.
Thanks for the pic Noah.

In the article it says it is recessive. I said in the article it was very hard to try and establish and a few were killed off by feral cats and butcherbirds, and I think it has gone the way of the Pied Double bar, meaning that the few (if any) remain, they are just point of interest birds with not much use left
Thanks
