Read the article you contributed to this month's Birdkeeper magazine. Sounds like the black rumped double-bars are going really well for you—great work!
Thankyou very much for the positive comments Shane :)
Yes they are breeding pretty well, have 3 pair on the nest at the moment and previous young have been sold to go towards a pair of Aberdeens I'm picking up very soon

hi I went around and cleaned out the young in 2 of my aviaries getting ready for the spring rush, 18 diamonds, 30 double bars,10 stars, 12 plumheads (only 3 hens),4 cubans, 6 tricolored nuns and a couple of tricolored finches. I kept some to make up for deaths etc. and sold a few locally but will hang onto the rest until the covid abates. I finally put a gutter on one of my aviaries which i have been meaning to do for the last 15yrs. The floor is a lot drier. My blue wrens have just started to color up., and nesting mat'l is starting to vanish. Even though its been cold, on some of the sunnier mornings it has been lovely to have a coffee and just watch them.

That's a lot of finches to be breeding over autumn/winter. Good job.

Well done shnapper!

In my holding cage with young ones that I got over winter so far I have: 9 Black Rumped Double bars, 6 Ruddies, 6 Orange breasts, 2 Gouldians (from a 5 year old pair)

Picking up some pure White bellied (Javan) Munias in the coming weeks as well, along with the Aberdeens

I'm sure anyone housing parrots would be seeing a fair bit of activity going now!

I have 2 pair of Bourkes on eggs and my Green cheeked conures have laid as well, so looking forward to see the results

Looks like South Australians get to spend a fair bit of time tending their aviaries for the next week...
