I believe the mutation is autosomal so it would be easy to reproduce. The pics are not mine but i did breed some many years ago and everyone hated them as they were all after the brightly coloured WA stars. I dumped them at a dealers who gave an asking price for regular brighter coloured birds.
Now it seems that everyone wants them as a new mutation that imo is not very nice to look at.

I find the yellows and pieds most interesting to look at, but would go the blues over the other "in between" colours. Thanks for the full range of pics Craig.

Red headed , yellow headed or red headed isb those are the females I have avail now.

Would depend on a few things

- Are your 'Blues' from Red or Yellow headed stock? . . would be the main one

- Are Red hens pure or split for Yellow . .

I do not have any splits. Starting from scratch with the two pure silver cocks.

Is there a differance in the "blues" if they come from red or yellow?
Red headed hens are pure and they dont have any pied in there genetics.

Theoretically there should not be any difference (colourwise) . . the 'blue gene' is supposed to eliminate the yellows, reds, and oranges . . but in many of the 'blue' parrots the y's, r's, o's are not completely eliminated . . but are greatly reduced . . and you CAN see a faint pink in some of the pics of Blue Stars

My honest answer is that I don't know . . and others more familiar with the 'blue' star may not know either

I was more wondering if the hens may be carrying hidden 'yellow-head'

But you will have to go with the birds you've got . . and it won't affect the transmission of the blue gene
