agree. with no dark factor genes it isnt a cobalt. it's something else. it does look nice though.

calling it cobalt just confuses things as all cobalt from lovebirds, budgies to quakers need dark factor. that's eventually how mauve birds are made.

as for the photo the hue on the beak is blue so I feel the camera has picked up some blue reflected in there somewhere

If it was a Budgie - it would be a voilet sky. Violet is a gene that can be light or dark - mother has bred her 1st mauve goldenface budgie this past breeding season. Then due to an accident damaging the roof of an avairy lost him and 2 of his sibblings and another 7 young that were only 5/10months old over a period of 10 weeks till the hole was discovered. Devestating to next seasons breeding.
Back to the Gouldian - whatever he is he is stunning.
