hi, for the first time ever for me i had 2 little painteds leave the nest today, very excited about that, but anyway, just a silly question that i need to ask,do i put a small shallow dish of water on the ground for them while theyre there until they fly with the others ? i did already, but dont know if they can even drink yet.it is very shallow with a partial plastic cover on it so they cant drown in it.
thanks

They'll still be getting fed by their parents, so it's not neccessary. Doesn't hurt though.

Congrats on breeding the painteds :)

Congratulations. If they are staying on the floor, as quite often happens. Place a low perch that they can roost on overnight.

thanks, they are cuties and today they are flying to the high perches and ive put heaps of big stones in the main water dish too.they have quite good strong colour already but im not surprised as the parents are both nice yellows.wish they were called 'orange' not yellow cause they arent yellow at all.

Pictures please or it didn't happen :)

On a side note, do painted finches still follow people around the aviary making pinball machine noises?
Mine used to and it was hilarious.
