hey guys no luck with breeding my zebs.
what size cage should i use for them and how do i kick start the processss?
one more Q. i know that they are oppurtunistic birds but does weather affect anything?
i am asking because i keep them out side (:

Zebs aren't usually hard to breed. But did have an instant some years back when we moved house and it took a while for them to settle in and start breeding again. I have always had mine in outdoor aviarys. Temp here at the moment is varying between 2 - 26 degrees Like most birds, the more space they have the happier they are but you can breed a pair happily in a standard breeding box. Give them a selection of nest types and nesting material and wait patiently.
That's the trouble with birds even the easy ones need a degree of patience.

what type of nest box should i use,i mean because its summer here in california and its kinda hot in the day and pretty cold in the night and the nest that i am using is a wicker one and i always thought that if i use a nest box it would be better and more private but there are like three types so which would be the best one and thanks to everyone in the forum i really appreciate it.

I find the wicker baskets are mainly used

i have one word for you . PATIENCE is the key give them time to settle down mate . by the sounds it hasnt been to long since you swapped the birds. once they start building a nest work on it from there. they can be kept outside just give them some protection from the elements and a way you go.......pete ;)

I have had some take many months to breed.

zebras will nest in anyting. make sure they have plenty of nest material available like coconut fibre and leave them to it.
when they are ready they will breed, they wont be rushed
but once they start they wont stop
