Fawn mutation for plumheaded finches

Hi does anyone know how the fawn mutation of plumheaded finches work ? Is it sex linked , recessive ? Is better to buy spilts ?

Autosomal recessive. If you can find splits go for it but a coloured bird to a normal will produce all split young.
