G’day all I have a pair of brown quail (swampy) in a planted aviary that are laying multiple eggs like a chook but not sitting none of the finches are interfering with them they get the same handouts as the rest of the birds seed, bok Choy, sprouts, cucumber, nats, maggots, mealworms & weeds from the garden any ideas. Thanks in advance S

Only suggestion I have is one that I heard from a no longer with us birdo many years ago. For the slow learners, make them a nest and place the freshest eggs in it. In most cases from then on they will do the right thing. Perhaps in the wild the parent birds are seen to do this and the young learn from example?

I'ts a long time since I last saw any, but yes I recall that their idea of a nest is just a scrape with the eggs pushed into it. Any chance of swapping stock with someone else to see if it is just that they are incompatible?

Well she has finally sat on 8 eggs in the same place under the mondo grass. Only this time she spread the eggs after they had half formed chicks in them hopefully better luck this time she is laying again in the same place. Must be just the new mum syndrome gets closer each time & there is nothing that can disturb her even the sprinkler have been moved.changed to drippers
