Welcome to the forum. Research lots so you get the right one first time and the 2nd time. What finches are you looking at starting with?

Hi guys.
Thank you.
Tossing up between finches and canaries.
Not sure what path to take. Leaning more to canaries atm.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Canaries are part of the finch family and, where space permits, can be housed with many other finch species.

I'd go with larger finches that won't be intimidated by the canary's greater size: things like Java finches, red-faced parrotfinches, longtail finches, or maybe even Gouldians.

Have canarys with Double bars in one avairy and Zebs in another. No problems, but there is lots of space in the Double bar avairy and lots of mixed nesting.
