Tasmanian aviary

Hi. New member, haven’t figured out how to search old posts yet, sorry.

I’m moving down to Devonport, Tas, and I’d like to set up a large planted aviary there. Looking for advice on what finches can take the climate there, either just with some shelter or with shelter and some heating. Current mixed aviary in Perth has canaries, gouldians, African fires and goldbreasts, with some grass parrots. I’ll start again in Tas, obviously, but I’m not sure what to start with….

Here in the Adelaide Hills, where it gets a bit cooler than Adelaide proper, I really struggle with the African finch species. Gouldians, emblemas, stars, red-faced parrotfinches, and double bars all thrive and occasionally breed in the middle of winter; so I'd assume they'd all be good choices for Tassie.

That is a real climate change - niece did it 20yrs ago though.
