Grapefruit wood for nest box?

I have a grapefruit tree that died and am contemplating cutting it into sections and drilling out accessible nesting boxes to put in my large aviary. I can’t find anything online specific to toxicity of citrus wood and Lady Gouldians- your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robert

The problem is if want to check nesting activity it's very hard to inspect. Proper made gouldian nesting boxes allow for inspection and can be cleaned out between nests where hollow logs can be a tedious and heavy obstacles. Gouldians are so domesticated now and most are familiar with plywood nesting boxes. imo

I agree with Craig - perhaps you could turn the tree into perches for your Gouldians?
