New to finches

Hi everybody I have just joined.

I'm new to finch breeding. I bought 13 finches and 2 canaries a couple of months ago from a breeder sadly I have already lost one finch and some of the others are not doing too well but the canaries seem to be fine.

I feel that I've got off on the wrong foot with the hobby due to not having enough knowledge or maybe the finches could have already had issues when I got them. I am now getting there slowly in regards to resolving the problem which I believe is a parasite issue so hopefully with the right meds and measures being taken I can save my flock from deteriorating

They are Zebra Finches all living in an aviary I built for them. Many have already laid some eggs.

I am looking forward to my journey with the hobby.

Are your finches and canaries all in the same cage?
How big is the cage that you have them in?
Do you have more nests than you have hen birds?
Welcome to the hobby.

They are all in the same aviary which has lots of space for them and I have 8 nest boxes in total.

I have a similar number of birds in my 2m High x 1.5m long x 0.75m wide cage and worry that they are crowded. Which is why I tend to ask. Got used to questioning if what I do is best for my birds.
I also find that mixing the 2 types is just fine for the birds.
