Hi guys!!! My king quails currently have some chicks, I have one coloured up now that I haven't seen before... I'm thinking it's a cinnamon... pied... or cinnamon red fronted.... the Adults are RED FRONTED cock bird and ALBINO hen.

They have had quite a few chicks now but one of these hasn't appeared, thanks for looking at it for me 👍

Any suggestions as to what it is?

The chick on the right is definately cinnamon - I have seen this spangle effect on the wings (but not as perfect) before. They usually come out a dilute almost pale grey cinnamon. I have a line that is dilutes. That go way back to the only pied I have ever had.

So itsjust a normal cinnamon???? Lol wow I've had cinnamon before but I don't remember them looking like this , I got excited over nothing 😄 so it will just loose the nice colouration once it gets it adult plumage...? Thankyou

No it is a "different" cinnamon. The first time I saw this type of markings was on birds that Spana had. I purchased some of that line from him and am still line breeding them now. They are the birds I crossed with the pied line to get the dilutes I am breeding. It has included mixing silver into the line.
When you look at Gouldians you will see some are light green and some are dark green. Well thats a bit like these quail. If we select and watch we can get our cinnamons in everything from really red to pale almost grey. Just like some people select their Gouldians for the dark factor and get the deepest green.

Ahhh I see, interesting. So it's a case of wait and see.... il see how long the parents tolerate it being in there 😁

Gentle natures is something else you can select breed for. I have most of mine so the young stay till they are fully coloured and I only have to move them when they reach "look carefully to tell who is who" stage. I pair currently have 2 grown sons with them, not far off time to move now.

Even the normal next to it is more speckled than the other two just in the pic. You seem to have the speckled gene in there for sure.

Agree, the bottom pictured bird looks lighter coloured than normal.

Ok well here she is fully coloured up... well 99% I kept her and moved the rest of the clutch on to see how she would turn out
