Deterring specific wild species

Hi,
I love finches and have been feeding the wild locals for generations now. I had a large family of waxbills and some double-barred who were regulars, but due to some health issues I stopped feeding them for a bit. They obviously decided the restaurant had closed and moved on to greener pastures. However, when I started putting feed out for them again recently I had some beautiful chestnut manikins turning up along with the double-barreds. But now the waxbills have returned and they're much more aggressive, often yelling at the others until they vacate their seats, which has scared off the manikins. Is there any way to deter the waxbills or encourage the return of the manikins? I put up some signs about aggression not being tolerated, but the waxbills blatantly ignore it.
