Hi Everyone,

Just in enquiring in regards to my gouldian finch as i have discovered she had a grunting voice a while back so i gave her ivermectin at one drop once a week for 3 weeks but around a week after the 3rd dose i noticed the grunting again and was wondering if i can dose her again and my worries are she is seven and very healthy but worried it will tax her system or should i wait alittle longer to see as i used to use moxidectin and the grunting never came back like the ivermectin has...i mean it's not that bad only every now and than at the moment..she lives alone and is very talkative ..would like peoples thoughts on ivermectin and moxidectin ...as i know moxy stays in the system longer...thankyou everyone :) :penguin:

Moxidecton and ivermecton are virtually the same drug.
The dose for Moxidecton is 6ml/ltr of water and probably the same for ivermecton so you way under dosing.
I found the best way to dose a single bird is to use as a spot on. The easiest way to do this is one drop on the bare skin on the back of the neck or one drop on the bare skin in the wing pit. The bird will preen that area and doing so will get some internally aswell
Absorbed through the skin is better than mixing with water as it is a hit and miss dose. When I say drop I mean straight dose not diluted.

I usually do one drop on the upper leg and she is fine with that..once every 21 days for 3 dose with the moxy but everyone online seems to have so many different days they give the medicine ...but i worry about doing another dose so close to the others....she did grunt again today for a bit...

Yes maybe she might have a respiratory condition.
If she is inside the house all sorts of things could effect the lungs maybe.
