Hey all,
Just added a pair of diamond fire tails to my mixed finch aviary and he’s pulling everyone’s feathers out already…
Will he settle down or should I isolate him?
I will not stand for him pecking the other birds.

Can I ask how big the aviary is and how many finches are in the aviary. Pic would help. Thanks

It’s 3x3 and has about 6 pairs of mixed finches and canaries. I’ve noticed the star finches aren’t putting up with his rubbish today and have been asserting their dominance.

It's always wisest to have at least 2 avairies so you can mix and match personalities, and have room for young that you breed.

I have 7 aviaries but this is the only one with finches. Could I put the pair in with my cockatiels perhaps?

Cockatiels and any other parrots can be dangerous to finches by snapping legs off.
Unless you can house compatable finches on their own you need to remove the uncompatable finches and not keep them.
In my experience diamonds need large aviaries to exercise and breed. 3m x 3m wouldn't suit one pr of diamonds on their own let alone 6 other prs of different species of finches.

What Craig said.
Cockatiels are lovely birds with a nice personality.
But just to darn big to not scare the poo out of finches.
And why should they live in stress 24/7?
