To my surprise I now have a mouse living in my 5 star accommodation in my aviary. This is the 1st one that I have seen in years.I want to ask if anyone knows a good bait. I have a metal trap with a entry funnel on top. So far I have not caught any mice. I have tried peanut paste, seed, cheese and pumpkin seeds.
I am a little worried as today I found Mr Mouse in a brush box near baby birds.
Thanks.

Usually if there is one there is more. The trap you are using is the most safe in a finch aviary. Have you searched for where it/they are getting in to seal it up because mice can come and go as they please. Once done concentrate on the ones inside the aviary. There is also wind up traps available that reset themselves but I'm not sure where you can them but most bird clubs would have them. Good luck

I have always found cheese with a smear of peanut paste the most effective
Some people use bacon when other baits have failed
Good luck

Birdseed itself or peanut paste seem to work best here.
Touch wood no mice seen for a bit now.
But the good growing season could see us have problems this summer if the usual pattern is followed.
Then we go into full plastic drum drop trap mode.

You can try a household sponge soaked in bacon fat
Eating the sponge doesn't do them any favours
