I have a bird room with an Opal White polycarbonate corrugated roof. The breeding cabinets are 3 cages high and I get good results in the middle and bottom cages, but poor results in the top cages.

I now believe this is because those nests are getting too hot positioned up close to the polycarbonate roofing with the sun shining through. So what to do? Is it enough to introduce solid layer that provides complete shade on the top nests? Or do I need to use some sort of insulation as well? Like Foilboard for example? Thanks for your advice.

Is the birdroom fully enclosed? OR open and allowing natural breeze to enter?
Do you have any form of shade over the roof?
My mother operates her budgie breeding rooms with 4 tier and 2 tier arrangements - the top tier is retired in the hottest months of the year - but she also has trees shading the roofs and open fronts facing east for sun and breeze.
She also has wire slides for the nest boxes to replace the wooden ones in the hotter days.
Just a few ideas that have been working over the past 40yrs.
