Hello all
Its been about 30 years since I last kept finches but I am thinking about building a new aviary and starting again.
I think this forum will be a good place to read up and see what has changed/evolved over the years. One question I have is whether treated pine is safe to use in aviary construction now that it is pressure treated with copper rather than arsenic.

I would still be reluctant to use it.
But I am always very careful, about any of these changes actually being effective.

Treated pine is fine to because they use pressurised salt treatment these days. But I would still give it a coat of paint to look better.
Garden grade is second grade and very rough but I wouldn't let water sit from run off on it due to toxicity in the water.
My aviaries are built with treated pine but painted where it isn't covered by cement sheets or other cladding materials.
