Numbers of species

Hi
This is probably for the people with a few Aviaries.
Are there many people here that specialise in specific Species?..... like several pairs of the same breed in multiple aviaries.
(Gouldians aside ;)
I know in my younger years i wanted lots of different species and was probably the reason why i didnt breed some birds. Still the same now i guess but when i get some more room i hope to really focus on singers and siskins.
(Still want some parrot finches and Softbills ;)
Oh so little space time and money......one step at a time i guess.
Cheers
Luke
(Long winded i know but my mind runs wild

Hi Gomer, do you think by focusing on less species you will improve your results?

I hope so Luke,As i am putting in more time and effort and cash in.I want to try to help the less common or wanted Aussies. But perhaps keep a pr of the more common ones. Its hard to do, as i have cut back on gouldians.

very true, i reckon the Aviaries at my parents will always have Gouldians in them.
Do you have any Diamonds?... have you had much luck with them?.

my plan is to stay committed to exotics. since they can't be replenished if they die out and their numbers fluctuate so much in australian aviaries i consider them all to be threatened in one way or another.
there are a couple of species i'll probably never be able to do without, i absolutely adore orangebreasts for example. so i'm sure i'll always keep a good 3-4 pair of them. i also have a thing for strawberrys, fires and increasingly, cordons.

It seems you guys might be thinking a reduction in the numbers of species may help produce larger quantities of a particular bird too.
Interesting..
