Look who just gave himself up.....

After cleaning out the cages with my young gouldians in, I went to give the chickens the leftover seed. As I reached the chicken pen a few birds flew off, then one came back down and sat there looking at me.

It was a Zebra finch.

I stepped forward expecting him to fly off but he just sat there. So I put out my hand and crouched down and the bird took one hop towards me. I scooped him up and he is now in a quarantine cage.

He felt so thin and his feathers were all over the place! When I put him in the cage with seed and water he spent half an hour at the seed cup! Ive also put in a mixture of egg food and vitamin mix.

Ive treated with him Moxidectin. He will now spend a month or so inside.

He must have been someone pet he seems so tame, not fazed by hands right next to him in the cage. Poor little guy, he must have had a rough ride in the outside world.

 I wish!

He is so calm in the cage just watches when I change the water and seed. I can even touch him. He does have one interesting habit, his call is so different to the zebs I used to have, he sounds more like a mobile phone!

My zeb has certainly livened up today. Hes not as keen to be touched. I think he must have been just plain worn out yesterday after his "Big Day Out" and glad of a safe place to park his behind.
