had 2 baby finches come out of their eggs a few days ago. i noticed this wierd blister or something on their back. any ideas?

Can you post a pic of the blister?

what sort of finches are we talking about here. some are born naked like gouldians and parrot finches other with down feathers like zebra finches.like us humans we dont look that crash hot when just born. young birds are born with a yolk sac which they absorb over the first day or two of life .there fore making there abdomen look larger even blister like , if they are still blistery after a week or so then u got a problem.. pete

they're actually zebra finches. and this "blister" is on top of their back. wish i had a camera at the moment to show you but i don't. i don't really know if its actually a blister but it just looks kinda funny, and the closest thing i can think of that looks like that is a blister. any information is helpful, and i'll try to borrow my friends camera to post a picture soon.

In relation to the second picture it was taken from finch niche and here is what it said.

The crop looks like it's gonna pop
This baby bird looks like it is about ready to pop. There is so much food in its neck pouches, it can't move!

This is normal. It just means the baby is well fed and cared for properly. I have yet to actually see a baby bird pop. If you see a very full crop and are worried, wait a few hours and look again, it should look better.

how long do they keep those "food sacks" for or until they're non visible?

As they get their feathers they will cover the crop.
