My red head gouldian pair fledges 5 young in August. The babies are still in their juvie colours. This week I removed 4 eggs from the floor of the aviary (I took out all nest boxes after the young fledged). Today I saw some of the babies doing the courtship dance to the other babies. They have not yet gone through the moult but should I try and identify the males and move them to a flight cage? I don't want to stress them prior to their first moult.

I quite offen see my young uncolour males? practicing their mating call. when one starts it sets off a few more, but the females? take no notice. As the say practice makes perfect.
I also have all my uncolour Gouldians in an aviary on their own.
Hope your babies colour up soon, some of mine have just started.

I still have 6 gouldian babies in the main aviary still being fed by their Mr Mum's.
The juveniles are in other cages, some in the "I dont know what sex they are yet" cage and the other cage has those birds that I have seen and heard singing.
Once I can get the Mr Mum's and their babies separated all the juvenile boys will be going into the main aviary to colour up.
