Yay!!

Out of my few breeding pairs I have left (we are moving house + the fact I lost a lot of paired birds over winter) I finally have some action:
Double bars are singing, first time!
Cordons are also singing and carrying grass
King quails are mating, hen sitting on 5 ATM
And the Gouldian cock sings everyday despite having no mate.
Hopefully breeding should be good this spring after all, despite birds being cramped in cages during the move.
Hope everyone else is doing well 2!

Sound good Jayburd.
My quail had 10 from first nest then five from the second & sitting on onother 6 eggs.
Goulds have all stopped and I removed all nest boxes. Last fledged about 3 weeks ago.
Painted's are going nuts with one pair having 4 then 5 & sitting on 5 eggs. The other has 4 young about to fledge.
The first pair mess around for six months before being successful. Now the don't miss.
Diamonds, still no luck. Possibly 3 cocks
Going to have to sell some soon.

Wont be long 'til there's a new year Deb. I've had nothing for 6 months but lots of birds are going down now so I'm hoping that when I come back on Jan 8 the baby drought will be over. Reading bloggs over time I think we all experience these things even if it's only confined to a singe species and although you're doing nothing different or you may even try a little harder that pair of plum heads that raised 30 young in the first year you got then doesn't breed for the next two years. If you can figure out what causes this we'll all be grateful - if you figure out how to stop it you'll be a hero but if all finches bred like zebs then they'd all be a cheap as them too! (Mind you I've not even bred zebs for 6 months)

I only have one pr of birds that are not behaving like zebras, my st helenas are once again trying to provide enough eggs for an omelet
all the other birds are either sitting tight, already have young in a nest or have just had a nest fledge. even have some 8 week old gouldian juveniles that are starting to colour up.

Im not looking at them any more coz I swear some of them are retarded at times

red emblemas playing musical nests , orange breasts that think they are ducks , hypo double bars and gouldians sitting on the nest 24/7 but laying eggs on the ground

They are all candidates for therapy .
