well after finnally looking for the last 2-3 years looken for the brown quail(not the normal kings) i was able to find someone in brissy with some and bought 19 of him turned out to be 9prs 1 hen. this was around october or so that i got them. i kept 3 prs then me dad took 2 prs so do me uncle and Pete(Poita) 1 pr been messen around sitten on a dozen eggs or so then abandon them.then built another nest and unforutantly the cock died bout a week ago nd then today i went out to check the birds and there was 2 baby chicks. just lets hope i can keep them alive for the first week lets hope. 1 other pr is sitten on roughly 10 eggs nd should be due any day aswell if there fertile. the other pr have not even looked at nesten nor laid a egg may have to put them in a different avairy.

me uncles 2 prs have both got eggs some have been sent to his mates incubator nd some left to be sat under the hen

Dads 1 pr is sitten on eggs should be hatchen any time now then the other pr havent done anythen

and im sure poita will see the post and post wat hes are doen

for such a relitivly nice easy to breed bird why is this such hard to find. the more rarer quails such as the stubbles blackbreasted ive seen more of since weve started to loook for them

i got four that are about a week old and had to remove the dad as they were getting a bit squashed by dad wanting to make more and another nest due out in the next week.......pete

Congratulations Chris and Pete.
Unfortunately, as has been said on here before in relation to finches, but applies to quail also.
What is easy to breed and people like is what is really most likely to be common.
What is hard to breed or expensive or just plain old ordinary is going to be the things that are hard to find.

I had two Stuble Quail ? Down the back paddock last week.Have kept them in the past.Any how good luck with them.
