Hello everybody, havent been here in a while but I had to get rid of my pair of zebra's because I had a real bad mice problem is there any good way of preventing this?

Get a Jack Russell Terrier.
Small wire that they can't get through, sink the metal or concrete round the outside of the avairy at least 1/2 metre into the ground.

Small terrier idea isnt so silly best ratters on 4 paws and beat cats hands down.

And then have permenant bait stations,Placed around the place for when they do get in because one day they will.

and dont just depend on the concrete foundation if you make it 1/2 a metre deep.
when I built my aviary a year ago I made the foundation 2 foot deep (60cm)
damn rodents found ways in. thank god for mouse bait

I seem to be always battling rats in the roof of my house.I keep up the bait,when i hear them scratching around i know its time to chuck up some more bait.

Agree with all the comments above re baiting, rat walls etc. but I think the most important factor is not to attract them in the first place. Keep the cage/aviary floor clean & free from husks, design feed & water stations off the floor where mice can't access them and the same goes for nesting materials. Mice will only hang around if there's a free feed.

Beagles keep the foxes and cats down well. Poor cat didn't stand a chance.

I used to have a beagle and a dachshund growing up the beagle used to kill all the crested and diamond doves that used to land near our aviary hehe.

At the moment ive got a 8 month old male jack russell terrier tho hes a top little dog. He will be great when i build a bigger aviary.
