I am not giving any advice as i am starting with them but today when i got home from work i found my 2nd and last Blue Hen on the floor half dead. So now no Blue hens and 2 Split cocks. which may go to waste this year.

My father is keeping these, has about 4 pairs.
All i can say from what i have seen is they are a pain to keep alive let alone breed. I have seen large healthy ones ok one day and dead on the floor the next. All nice and fat with no sign of any kind of disease.

Update on the blues.Lost one blue hen and a three chicks ,on the weekend.Possibly due to a disturbance at night,As i know there was a disturbance while I was away all weekend. That now leaves my with three pr,not including a few split i have going in another aviary. On a brighter note One chick survived the disaster and another five chicks in another nest are about to fledge.Fingers crossed with this batch.
