Unusual Fostering

I will start by saying last year a pair of my Tri Coloured Parrotfinches went to nest lost a couple from a cool night with one surviving. A pair of Yellow Gouldians had 1 young at the time so i took it off the Parrotfinches and put it under the Gouldians and they reared it perfectly.
Now i have another one.
My new Blue Gouldians 1 pair had 3 young silly me i left a cock bird in as the hen was sick hence he upset her and i lost 2 of the young when i checked with 1 left and no food in its crop. Took it out when down the back put it under some Yellow Gouldians that had eggs but were not interested in going in this happened with 2 pairs.
So i was determined not to loose this potential Blue Gouldian. My Slate Zebras had young put it under them and checked in an hour and the crop was full so i left it.
It is still alive and is a Blue Gouldian it hopped out yesterday afternoon so last night was its first test and when i arrived home it was the first thing i checked and was still alive.
I watched the Slate parents and they were flying down and up as if it was their own.
So hopefully another couple of days and i should be safe that a pair of Zebras have reared a Gouldian. :)

Good old zebs. They are bomb proof and good fosters as well! A lot of people put them down but what finch is more forgiving than a zeb of our little needs and wants?

Thankyou, it was only worth a try. I thought well i started with none if they didnt do the job so be it. But its been a day and half so i think its safe and the young Slate zeb is still in the nest i actully thought the Gouldian may have been another week.
