Latest Fledglings

Three orange breasted waxbills fledged this morning :D :D :D
Did find another on the floor dead :(

scruffy little fellas them orange breasts.
emblema nest looks different to what I am used to seeing, mine fill the nest with sticks and lumps of anything they can carry.
then add a few feathers for lining

Its the bigger version of the two nests available. I lined it with coconut fibre and swamp grass when I put it up, they added a few bits of bark and some feathers and started laying.

my emblemas have the messiest nest around , everything pushed to the back and a little rock garden of charcoal , corn nibs and who knows what else.

The little guys spent their first night outdoors in an abandoned canary nest, I had left it as it was too close to their nest and I didnt want to spook them, thank goodness I left it there as it was a bit cold and windy last night.

Congratulations. Hope my O/B's and Painteds who are both being attentive to each other will choose a nest and get on with it soon.

Have had pair Orange-Breasted waxbills for 2 years now keep making nests but nothing ever happens. My pair of Painted Finches have only had for 7 months and have just hatch their 3rd lot of babies. Love your little waxbill babies I wish I knew the secret ;)

Very nice pics Diane.
My Emblema's use the same nest aswell.Have two pair nesting atm.
Weather sould be good for their first week for the O/B's .Good luck. :D
