Gouldian Mutataion

I dropped into a local pet shop the other day. There were some 'normal' Gouldian Cocks i.e. RH PB GB. The difference with there birds was that the black out line around their face replaced almost the entire aqua band on the face. So instead of the black out line being 1 - 2 mm thick it was more like 6 - 7 mm thick with just a hint of the aqua.

Its the first time i have seen one like it. Do people know this as a common mutation/variation?

Cheers
Ian

Not seen any like that before. Just been out and had a really close look at my two RH boys, they have black under the beak which extends in a thin line up the sides of their face with the aqua behind that.

Another question.....been to a few sales in the last couple of weeks and have seen gouldians that dont look like they have any feathers under the beak at all. Would this be the start of the head feather loss or something else?

I'm pretty sure I read so somewhere that happens in split head colors or something like that, I'll have a look tonight and see if I can find the aricle.

Have bookmarked, after reading to remind myself. I only have orange and red heads which is possibly why I hadn't come accross this.

Thanks for the link. A good article, and its based on the Adelaide Plains, just where I am. Wonder if the author is still around? It was written about 1987
