How is everyone going with breeding their Cordons? In Perth i am finding it hard to get a hen and when they are up for sale the prices range from $100-$130 a pair.

Very difficult to get a hen without the male unless you know the breeder and they have a surplus of hens, fairly common for most species actually. You can always get a single male relativly easy. I picked up a pair for $50 from a breeder I know so the price you are quoting is over the top.

hi clarissa. that price is not over the top. over here in the west some birds can cost more than others and eastern staters tend to forget that and vice versa at one stage it could have cost up to 200 a pair as hens were in short supply, did you buy yours as a pair or by its self....pete

I bought a pair from the Mandurah Bird Show last month only to have the hen die 2 days later, $100 for them. Got another male from the Canningvale markets for $30 which i thought was a good buy.Had a couple in a pet shop not too far away but they wanted $65 each, i hesitated. When i went back they were gone. They are advertised sometimes in the quokka but rarely and then you have to be pretty quick to get in first.
